Community Involvement
Below are a few of the ongoing initiatives that the Burlington Historical Society is involved in. There are many other BHS events and activities that occur so ensure you become a member to stay informed!

Union Burying Ground
The Burlington Historical Society has contributed volunteer hours and funds towards a number of projects to clean and restoring the United Empire Loyalists cemetery on Plains Road.
More information on the Union Burying Ground is available in the BHS digital archive on the Burlington Public Library website. Use the button below to access the collection.
We have made a series of videos to talk about this interesting part of our past and you can find these videos below.

Greenwood Cemetery
The BHS continues to present the many stories of those interred at Greenwood Cemetery. The stories of many of these Greenwood “residents” were documented by Burlington Historical Society member and long time volunteer, Peggy Armstrong. Peggy was involved with the OHS Cemetery project and has continued, over the years, to research the stories. You can read her work here

Heritage Burlington Advisory Committee
The Burlington Historical Society is an active member of the City of Burlington Heritage Committee. As an advisory committee of City Council it provides advice and recommendations on the conservation of Burlington's cultural heritage.
Additional information on the committee can be found on the City of Burlington website by following the link below.
