The Burlington Historical Society collects and preserves photographs, maps and other published materials that pertain to the history and stories of Burlington. Much of this material has been digitized and placed online through a partnership with the Burlington Public Library. You can access the BHS Archive through the library website or by using the link below.

Research
Our physical archives can be made available to the public for research purposes, by appointment, and our volunteers are available to assist. However please note the following:

Much of our material is fragile and must be handled with care. Very fragile items have been photocopied and may not be available as originals.

There will be a charge for physical copies of documents

The Burlington Historical Society Archives is staffed and operated entirely by volunteers. Researchers must make an appointment to ensure that someone will be available to assist them when they arrive

Donate Materials
Are you downsizing or do you have a piece of Burlington’s past which you would like to share? Consider archiving your treasures with The Burlington Historical Society.
The Archives room is climate controlled and access is limited to Library staff, Archives volunteers and their guests. Collections are housed in archival quality file boxes and photographs are protected by individual sleeves.
If you aren’t willing to part with your treasure would you be willing to loan it to us for scanning? We will return your piece of history to you and include a copy of the digital image if you wish. Our motto is “Preserving Burlington’s history for today & tomorrow”.
Appointments can be made for a tour of the archives, to conduct research or to make donations. Please contact us for an appointment
